Jeffrey L. Helfer, Entrepreneur-in-Residence
Jeffrey L. Helfer has a background that includes a total of 32 years in product development and manufacturing, new business development, and regulatory affairs. He recently served as CEO of MYOTECH, LLC a company formed to commercialize a unique human circulatory support system with the potential to save hundreds of thousands of lives worldwide, and VP of Engineering for Biophan Technologies, Inc. where he successfully developed new medical device technologies that led to business partnerships with Boston Scientific and Medtronic. Previously, at Ortho-Clinical Diagnostics (O-CD), a division of Johnson & Johnson, he served as Program Director, responsible for the system integration of an $80 million new product development program. As O-CD's Director of New Business Development, Jeff managed a $90 million annual R&D portfolio, led new business development inititiatives, managed multiple new technology and product development partnerships, and licensed-in new products. While serving as a Director of Regulatory Affairs for O-CD, he was responsible for modifying the company's product regulatory approval processes. As O-CD's Director of Engineering, Jeff managed a 140 person engineering organization that delivered many new products to market. Jeff holds a B.S. (Summa Cum Laude) from Rochester Institute of Technology and an M.S. (Cum Laude) from the University of Rochester, both in Engineering. He also holds over 80 issued and applied patents.
