John Soron

John Soron is an energetic, seasoned, results oriented leader with deep experience in general management, engineering management, technical sales, manufacturing, automation, and product/business development. He has held C-level positions in 6 technology intensive companies, and has worked closely with venture capitalists, private equity groups, the banking industry, angel investors, and many of the Fortune 500 companies.

John currently owns and operates Marco Ventures, LLC, providing mentoring, strategy development and commercialization support to senior management at start up and early stage companies seeking to develop business growth centered around a technologically innovative or sophisticated product.

John’s background and skill set includes:

  • 30+ years experience in executive management and technology development.
  • Personally involved and managed 3 technology start ups and 2 turnarounds.
  • President /CEO of 6 companies, including 2 in renewable energy technologies, 1 in the design and manufacture of factory automation machinery, 1 manufacturing products for the Defense Industry, and 1 providing structural steel castings to the North American Transit Rail market.
  • Competed acquisition of 1 company from Venture Capitalists, and the sale of 2 others.
  • Experienced in all facets of startups, including capital development, financial management, product development and commercialization, team building, operations, sales and marketing, etc.
  • Familiar with and supervised implementation of efficient manufacturing disciplines (Lean, 5S, Six Sigma).
  • Currently active in local angel and venture investing community, and a member of the Screening Committee for the Eastern New York Angels.
  • Accomplished and skilled at successful team building, leadership, and the unique needs of growing technology intensive companies during turbulent economies.


Having recently sold his current company, John now devotes most of his time to identifying and mentoring technology startups, using his engineering background, MBA, and extensive experience to accelerate growth increase the probability of success.
