Technology Development Services Overview

Lennox Tech Enterprise Center
At TEC, our focus is on client service and ongoing marketing. The TEC staff team is working directly with clients and is expanding the network of community resources available to clients. Marketing efforts emphasize networking and public relations targeted to technical entrepreneurs and their advisors to generate a steady flow of early stage prospects.

Rochester BioVenture Center
The Rochester BioVenture Center (RBC) is the first technology incubator in the region with the wet lab facilities that are required by biotechnology companies and will serve as an important link in the chain of resources necessary to promote and foster the growth of early stage life science companies on a regional scale. The facility is managed by HTR, and HTR extends its business support services – business and marketing plan development, entrepreneurs-in-residence, and networking with potential clients and investors – to BioVenture Center clients.

HTR Affiliates
The HTR Affiliates program supports emerging technology-based enterprises directly and through connections to key resources. Ten companies not resident at the incubator are participating as HTR Affiliates to increase management knowledge, access excellent service providers, connect to academic and government resources, and participate in HTR events.

Technology Commercialization
The HTR staff is working with academic and industrial labs to increase the local commercialization of technical innovation. National benchmarks have been identified and specific action plans are underway to support technology commercialization, particularly in biotechnology.

Entrepreneurial Training
HTR sponsors seminars and training events held at the Lennox Tech Enterprise Center throughout the year for individuals interested in starting or growing a high tech company. Featured events include monthly InfoBytes programs and Tech Entrepreneurs' events.

Business Development Services
HTR works with start-ups and entrepreneurs to help develop their businesses. HTR works directly with entrepreneurs and small to medium-sized businesses both within and outside of the TEC program. We can provide hands-on assistance with business plans, marketing plans, marketing research, competitive information and intelligence gathering, or even financial plans. These tasks, while often a challenge for the entrepreneur and small business owner, are a sampling of the types of work HTR can do to accelerate the growth of your new business.

Small Business Innovation Research Outreach
The SBIR and STTR grants provide over $2 billion annually to support R&D efforts by small companies developing innovative technology with commercial applications. Eleven federal agencies solicit proposals that receive from $100,000 (Phase-I) to $750,000 (Phase-II) in funding.
HTR can provide you with a special grant (
Phase-0 grant) dedicated to supporting the development of your SBIR/STTR Phase-I proposal. In addition, HTR provides SBIR proposal review and enhancement, access to mentors, consultants and other resources with SBIR expertise, as well as training regarding finding available solicitations, program eligibility, and specific grant proposal writing.
