Ted Franceschi, Entrepreneur-in-Residence

Seasoned semiconductor veteran Ted Franceschi has relocated to Rochester to accelerate our region's growth firms in his new role as Entrepreneur-in-Residence with HTR… the innovators' edge. Ted brings 25 years of industry experience in the semiconductor and intellectual property areas, with a focus on wireless, consumer, automotive, PC and industrial segments, including product and licensing experience.

Ted, an RIT graduate, began exploring a move to Rochester in 2004 for a variety of reasons, including a desire to raise his children in a great environment. Franceschi also felt that he could help marshal the region's resources for economic growth and, thus, give back to the community that launched his successful business career.

In December 2004, Ted and Paul Wetenhall, HTR's President, began a dialogue that culminated with Franceschi and his family moving to Victor in July. They agreed that he would join HTR as an Entrepreneur-in-Residence, working to create new companies and accelerate the growth of early stage tech businesses in the Finger Lakes region. 

Assessing the local entrepreneurial climate, a recurring criticism from venture investors has been that the region lacks experienced entrepreneurial talent. To address this regional challenge, HTR is working with Greater Rochester Enterprise to develop existing talent and attract proven entrepreneurs - Ted's relocation to Rochester marks a key step forward in this endeavor.

Ted began his work career after RIT graduation by joining Toshiba America Electronic Components Inc. where he served in several executive level operational, sales and marketing assignments over his 20 year term. His final position at Toshiba was as Senior Vice President of Business Development with responsibility for 16 product lines in the Americas with annual sales in excess of $2.5 billion.

Since leaving Toshiba in 2000, Ted has been engaged in several California-based ventures. He served as COO of a fabless radio frequency integrated circuit company prior to being recruited to SRS Labs as EVP & General Manager to return that company to profitability . SRS is a NASDAQ-traded audio enhancement intellectual property, IC and solutions company. Most recently, he has been CEO of Consequent Partners, a global consultancy business serving consumer and industrial electronic firms.
